State Selection Committee meeting on National Award for Teachers 2023 evaluation held
Principal Secretary of School Education, UT Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar chaired the meeting of the State Selection Committee for the evaluation of teachers for the National Award for Teachers 2023 at the Civil Secretariat, Leh on August 1.
Evaluation and scrutiny of five nominations and shortlisted based on the performance of the eligibility criteria from the national portal held on the performances in their respective schools and communities using technology, innovative pedagogy, joyful learning, learning material, mentorship, governance, engagement of the community, initiatives to improve learning outcomes, innovative experiments undertaken, organization of extra and co-curricular activities, use of Teaching Learning Materials, social mobility, ensuring experiential, unique ways to ensure physical education to students, etc. and presentation by the applicants.
First-level scrutiny is done by District Selection Committee (DSC) Leh and Kargil headed by the respective District Chief Education Officer. After the detailed evaluation of the applications, DSC, Leh, and Kargil shortlisted 5 nominations and forwarded them to State Selection Committee through the online portal along with the vigilance clearance certificate of each of the 5 applicants.
An independent jury will be constituted by the Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy to select the teachers for their excellence in the field of teaching with innovation and dedication.
The purpose of National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country and to honor those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.
The State Selection Committee members who attended the evaluation and scrutiny were Dr. Sharad Sinha from the Union Government (Professor NCERT); Director of School Education, UT Ladakh Tsering Paldan; Chief Education Officer, Leh Sonam Dorjay Namgail; and Chief Education Officer, Kargil Mushtaq Ahmad.
