Showing resentment against the comment made on social media against the staffs of SNM Hospital, Doctors and the Paramedical staff went on strike on January 2 at SNM hospital, Leh. 

A patient who came to see doctors were not attended and kept waiting outside the hospital.

The comment was posted by a boy on Facebook. He alleged and wrote, “In the gynae ward, nurses are rude to the patient who could barely walk and lack professionalism. They are given the jobs based upon the reservation and not according to the merits. In peak winter where the temperature drops to -35 , the hospital terminates the heating system at 10:30 pm. He accused the hospital of selling the generator fuel and the careless abortion that has taken place in the hospital.”

Hamza, President, Medical Employee Union Federation said, “From the last one year people have been posting against the hospital. The recent comment made on social media statement has blown the entire hospital with anger. In the entire J&K state, you will not find any hospital like Leh who cares and help the patient in the utmost possible way”.

“Since it is a district hospital, only 150 beds can be accommodated but the expectation of the public here is very high they compare the hospital with the AIIMS hospital in Delhi. They expect the same treatment to be given here in Leh hospital, which is not possible. We never acknowledge the good work. Even the slightest issues are raised in the social media. We want the person to come up with the proof of that entire allegation and should apologise for the unacceptable comment”, he further added. 

Dr. Zyed Hussain, President, Doctor Union said, “The derogatory comments and the allegation made by the person have tried to degrade the reputation of the hospital. Later on, many others also comment on the same post, some of them have written that the hospital staff should be shot dead and they are incapable for the job. There were other misguiding comments on the page.”

He further added, “The hospital has a capacity for only 150 beds but we are managing 350 beds. In peak season we even have to handle the tourist. So it is not possible to satisfy every individual, the small little issues are being posted on the social media. Such insane comments will surely discourage our staff." 

Motup Dorjay, Former Medical Superintendent said requested the Doctors association and Paramedical association leaders to resume the work in OPD.  He said that the staff needs assurance that such shocking remarks will not be posted in future. 

Dr. Sonam Dawa, CEC said that the doctors here work day and night and if people still comment on them, it is not at all justified. 

“If the person is very confident and has proof of what he has stated, he should come forward and if proved right we will take action against the same”, Dr. Dawa said.

 

In the evening on the same day, the same guy apologized for his comment on the same page and wrote, “I withheld all my post and sincerely apologise to everyone for my statement on SNM. It was an impulsive statement based on my emotional scenario.”

In the late afternoon on the same day, the situation was made under control and the staffs resumed their work.
