Seminar on Sustainable Development held at Kaksar village
A seminar on Sustainable Development was organised by the Command Area Development Kargil on March 6 at Kaksar village.
Chief guest of the occasion, Chairman/ CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan appreciated the efforts of the Command Area Development Kargil for conducting such a seminar at Kaksar for the benefit of farmers. He congratulated farmers of the area for the availability of large farming land and asked them to take benefit out of the land.
He also advised farmers in the area to focus on crops that are suitable for the area. Khan said agriculture and horticulture have the potential to sustain the economy of the region and asked the people to focus on them. He also said LAHDC is always available for any kind of support to the Self-Help Groups.
CEC also advised the farmers to adopt scientific methods so that more income is generated from the agriculture and allied sectors in the area.
BDC Chairperson Kargil, Khadija Banoo said the area has fertile soil which is suitable for both agriculture and horticulture crops. She also talked about the side effects of chemicals and sought the cooperation of farmers in making Ladakh free from chemical fertilizers.
CAO/Deputy Director Command Area thanked the CEC, EC, and other participants for attending the seminar.
He highlighted the efforts and endeavors of the Agriculture Department for the project in Kaksar village. He said the area is famous for wheat production in the district.
Scientist KVK, Chief Horticulture Officer, Kargil, and District Nodal Officer PM Kisaan, also shared their views with the farmers who attended the seminar. They detailed various scientific methods to increase crop production and informed them about the crop rotation technique.
