President of India visits Siachen Base camp, interacts with troops
On September 26, President of India Droupadi Murmu paid tribute at the Siachen War Memorial and interacted with soldiers during her visit to the Siachen base camp.
Addressing the soldiers, the President expressed her pride as the supreme commander of the armed forces, stating that all citizens salute their bravery.
The Siachen War Memorial symbolizes the sacrifice of soldiers and officers who have been martyred since the Indian Army commenced Operation Meghdoot on April 13, 1984.
Droupadi Murmu noted that since the beginning of Operation Meghdoot, the courageous soldiers and officers of the Indian Armed Forces have ensured the security of the region despite facing severe weather conditions. In challenging situations such as heavy snowfall and temperatures plunging to minus 50 degrees, they remain deployed with full devotion and vigilance. Their extraordinary sacrifices and resilience in protecting the motherland are recognized and respected by all Indians.
