PAGIR President urges L-G to facilitate Ladakh Team’s participation in Para Ice Hockey Girls tournament
Tsewang Dorjay, President of the People’s Action Group for Inclusion and Rights (PAGIR), met Lieutenant Governor Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on January 29.
During the meeting, he sought the Lieutenant Governor’s support in preparing for the upcoming Para Ice Hockey Girls Tournament.
Also present at the meeting were Advisor to the LG, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS; OSD to the Secretary of Youth, Services, and Sports, Dr. Stanzin Thakchos; and the President of PAGIR, Tsewang Dorjay.
Tsewang Dorjay informed the LG that the Para Ice Hockey Girls Tournament is scheduled to take place in Korea in June and July. He requested assistance in facilitating the participation of the Ladakh Para Ice Hockey Girls Team, including the registration of the Para Ice Hockey Association as a society and the procurement of essential training equipment.
In response, the Lieutenant Governor instructed the OSD to the Secretary of Youth, Services, and Sports to visit the training sessions, assess the standard of practice and equipment, and oversee the selection and preparation of the team. He also directed the OSD to initiate the formation of a federation and assist with the association’s registration through the Sports Authority of India and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Additionally, the LG assured that a formal request would be sent to the Ministry to facilitate the team’s participation in the tournament in Korea.
The LG further directed OSD Dr. Thakchos to submit a detailed report on the matter to the Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor by February 18, 2025.
