Over 200 students attend menstrual hygiene awareness program at EJM college
The MI/First Aid Committee of Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department of Leh Ladakh, organized an awareness program on menstrual hygiene at EJM College on October 4.
The initiative aimed to educate students on the importance of menstrual health and hygiene, while promoting sustainable practices.
The program was conducted by Dr. Tsetan Dolker, Convener of the MI/First Aid Committee, along with members Dr. Tsering Chorol and Dr. Nasrin Tabassum, under the supervision of Dr. Sameena Iqbal, Principal of EJM College. Informative sessions were held, covering various aspects of menstrual hygiene, including the significance of proper menstrual management, the use of safe products, and the environmental benefits of menstrual cups.
As part of the initiative, Shivani from Mogra NGO distributed menstrual cups to around 200 students, encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives to traditional menstrual products. This not only promotes women's health but also contributes to reducing environmental waste.
Speaking at the event, Shivani emphasized, “Awareness and education about menstrual hygiene are crucial for empowering women and breaking the stigma associated with menstruation. We are grateful for the support from the Social Welfare Department, which made this program possible.”
The event was well-received, with over 200 students participating and expressing gratitude for the valuable information and resources.
The MI/First Aid Committee of EJM College remains committed to promoting health awareness and sustainable practices among students.
