Orientation programme for Para Legal Volunteers held in Leh

District Legal Service Authority, Leh organised an orientation programme under the calendar of J&K State Legal Service Authority (SLSA) for Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) on December 14 at District Court Complex.
Ranbir Singh Jasrotia, Principal District & Session Judge, Leh also Chairman, District Legal Service Authority, Leh chaired the programme.
Explaining the role and duties of PLVs, R S Jasrotia said that PLVs are the bridge facilitating particularly the marginalized sections of the society to make them aware of their rights and avail the same.
The PLVs being closely connected to the people at the grassroots level are expected to make the needy aware of their rights and welfare schemes floated for them by the Govt. And if in case of violation of rights, non-accessibility or denial of welfare scheme by concerned authority/ department, they can directly approach them for redressal of the grievances or bring the matter in the notice of District Legal Service Authority or Teshil Legal Services Committee for its redressal.
Spalzes Angmo, Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Leh acquainted the PLVs with the object and provisions of the Legal Service Authority Act and the benefits of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Lok Adalat.
Tsewang Phuntsog, Munsif/ Chairman, Teshil Legal Services Committee, Nubra briefed about the rights of child and women. Advocate Mohd. Shafi Lassu, President, Bar Association spoke on fundamental rights while Advocate Tasaduq Abidi on fundamental duties.
