NTPC to launch Hydrogen fuel cell-based bus project in Leh
A team of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) briefed about the launch of a pilot project on Hydrogen fuel cell-based bus/vehicle for passenger transportation in Leh to the Hill Council, Leh on November 27.
CEC, Hill Council, Leh, Tashi Gyalson welcomed the pilot project on Hydrogen fuel cell-based bus/ vehicle project in Leh. He said that the Hill Council Leh is very keen to switch towards clean and renewable energy in line with PM Modi’s efforts to make Ladakh a carbon-neutral region. He assured to extend all possible assistance in implementing the project successfully but requested the NTPC team to give one more presentation on the proposed project with scientific proof and data, keeping in mind the fragile ecosystem of Ladakh.
He further added that the Hill Council is also keen to integrate clean energy-based future projects for transportation in Leh town. He stressed upon NTPC to come up with a futuristic and sustainable project for Leh so that their investment won’t go in vain and assured that Council will provide suitable land for setting up of a Hydrogen Plant in Leh.
Advisor to LAHDC, Leh on Renewable energy, Kunzes Dolma made a query about the impact of hydrogen fuel emission to the ozone layer, the cost-benefit ratio of project, security and risk factor of the compressed hydrogen when stored and used in Leh, etc.
Animesh Manna DGM/NTPC and Lawrence Debbarma, Manager NTPC RE gave a brief PowerPoint presentation about the proposed Hydrogen fuel cell-based bus/vehicle project in Leh.
