The new districts committee, Ladakh, commenced its tour and consultations on October 7 by engaging with delegations from the Zanskar Subdivision to discuss the formation of new districts.

Led by Chairman Pramod Kumar Jain, the committee—along with members Kacho Asfandyar Khan, Tsering Angchok, and Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse—held discussions to gather views and demands from local communities.

The outreach began in Parkachik, where the committee listened to concerns and received written representations from local delegations. The consultations continued in Rangdum and Abran, with villagers presenting their submissions outlining their views on the proposed district reorganization.

Earlier, on October 8, a comprehensive delegation representing the entire Zanskar Subdivision gathered at the Tourist Reception Centre. This group, which included Executive Councillor Phunsuk Tashi, local councillors, religious leaders, women’s representatives, and youth leaders, submitted a range of representations articulating their preferences and concerns regarding the creation of new districts.

The committee engaged in detailed discussions, carefully considering the various submissions and consulting with administrative officials. The aim is to ensure that voices from different sections of society are taken into account during the district formation process.
