National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa organises workshop to promote Hindi
National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh, organised a one-day workshop on the importance of the official language Hindi and its promotion in Ladakh on March 27 at the conference hall of the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh.
The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Deputy Director General of Doordarshan and All India Radio, Ladakh, R.K. Jarangal.
Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director of the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh, highlighted the significance of the Hindi language in the official works of Central Government offices and the rules and regulations concerning its use as the official language. He also underscored the substantial contribution of All India Radio and Doordarshan in promoting Hindi in Ladakh, acknowledging the role of Central Government employees, including Army and Paramilitary forces, in promoting Hindi in the region.
R.K. Jarangal congratulated the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh, for organising the workshop and emphasised that Hindi is the official language that everyone, especially Central Government employees and Indian citizens, should contribute to promoting. He expressed satisfaction with the level of understanding of the Hindi language in Ladakhi society, noting that around 90 percent of the public in Ladakh can comprehend Hindi. He reiterated the commitment of both Doordarshan and All India Radio to promote Hindi.
Technical lectures on various aspects of the official language Hindi were presented by Dr. Tsering Chorol, Hindi Lecturer at EJM College, Leh; Phuntsok Angchok from the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) office, Leh; Shilpi Shaw, Hindi Assistant at DIHAR Leh; and Dr. Sonam Angchok from the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Leh.
Dr. Nawang Tangais, Associate Professor at NISR Leh, delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and organisers for their contributions to the workshop.
