National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa organises workshop for practitioners in Leh
The National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR), Leh, conducted a two-day workshop and training program for Sowa-Rigpa practitioners from Leh district on November 19 and 20. The event took place at the institute's conference hall and was attended by 82 practitioners from various parts of Ladakh.
The program featured technical lectures and practical training sessions led by eminent Sowa-Rigpa experts and doctors, focusing on various aspects of public health and the traditional Sowa-Rigpa medical system.
The valedictory session was graced by Stanzin Chosphel, Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Art, and Culture, LAHDC Leh, as the Chief Guest. During his address, he expressed full support from LAHDC Leh for the preservation and promotion of Sowa-Rigpa and its associated practices, such as rTsis.
He also announced financial grants from LAHDC Leh to support Amchis (traditional practitioners) in procuring medicines and preparing Lotho (traditional remedies).
Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director of the NISR, presented a summary of the two-day workshop, emphasizing the critical role of Sowa-Rigpa in public health in Ladakh and outlining the recommendations from the sessions.
Certificates were distributed to participants and experts by the Chief Guest in recognition of their participation.
