Mission Shakti session focuses on women’s safety and empowerment with Leh’s religious associations
The One Stop Centre (OSC) Leh, along with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) under the Mission Shakti, Department of Social and Tribal Welfare, organised a one-day interaction session/meeting with representatives from various women religious associations including Anjuman moinul Islam, Anjuman-e-Imamia, Ladakh Budhist Assocation Women Wing and Mahila Mandal on August 28.
The session focused on crucial issues concerning women’s safety, security, and empowerment, aiming to foster a more supportive and secure environment for women in the community and to discuss the challenges faced by women in various spheres of life, including domestic safety, access to legal resources, and the importance of economic and social empowerment.
The collaboration between Religious Association (Women’s Wing) and One stop Centre and DHEW highlights the commitment of all this organizations to working together to ensure the well-being and advancement of women across the district.
During the session, key speakers emphasized in promoting gender equality and safeguarding women's rights. Discussions also revolved around the available support systems, legal frameworks, and how communities can collectively contribute to creating a safer environment for women.
The session also included interactive discussions where participants shared their experiences, concerns, and suggestions on enhancing women’s safety and security in the region. The OSC and DHEW reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such initiatives, which play a vital role in building awareness and empowering women at the grassroots level.
The One-Stop Center and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women plan to organise more such collaborative events in the future, further strengthening their partnership and outreach efforts in promoting the rights and safety of women across the district.
