MIMC observes International day of older persons
International Day of Older Persons themed, ‘Digital Equity for All Ages’ affirms the need for access and meaningful participation in the digital world by older persons was observed at Mahabodhi International Meditation entre, Choglamsar.
Advisor Ladakh, Umang Narula appreciated the work of Mahabodhi for rendering services to the senior citizens and also thanked them for extending help during the COVID pandemic. He further thanked them for creating a community for old age people.
He informed that UT Administration is planning to set up an old age home in both the districts of Leh and Kargil and the Administration has signed an MoU with HelpAge India for setting up a helpline for senior citizens/elders.
MIMC has been observing this day not only to honour the senior citizens but also to recognise and appreciate the kind-hearted people who have been lending their helping hand to MIMC in its noble causes. It was further informed that since its inception, the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) has proactively engaged in care and welfare activities for the elderly persons of Ladakh.
A vibrant cultural programme was also organised by the students of Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh and staff of various wings of MIMC to honour the senior citizens of the campus. Winter clothing sets and essential items were distributed to the elderly as a token of love and respect.
Certificates of appreciation were also presented to philanthropic individuals and organisations who have rendered great support to the Mahabodhi Maitri Old Age Home. Also, the ‘Donate One Day Meal’ program's supporters and donors were honoured on the day to express gratitude and appreciation.
Representatives of MIMC youth wing expressed great appreciation to the staff of Mahabodhi Old Aged Home for serving the Senior Citizens with the utmost care, all the donors of 'One Day Meal' and sponsors and supporters of Mahabodhi.
