Major General Anupinder Bevli’s visit marks milestone for NCC in Kargil

In a historic development for the region, Major General Anupinder Bevli, VSM, Additional Director General of the NCC Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Directorate, visited Kargil on May 28, marking a significant milestone in the growth and recognition of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Ladakh.
The visit is widely regarded as a recognition of the tireless efforts and commitment of the recently established 2nd Ladakh Battalion NCC Kargil, signalling a new era of growth, excellence, and opportunity for the region's youth.
Upon his arrival, Major General Bevli was warmly received by Colonel Suveer Seth, Commanding Officer of 2nd Ladakh Bn NCC Kargil, and Lieutenant Mohmad Hussain, Associate NCC Officer (ANO) and Vice Principal of Govt. Boys' Higher Secondary School Kargil.
At the Drill Ground, the Major General was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by a contingent of cadets who delivered an impeccable and disciplined performance, reflecting the high standards and traditions of the NCC.
Speaking on the occasion, Colonel Suveer Seth expressed his unit's unwavering commitment to raising the standards of infrastructure, training, and performance. “We are in the early stages, but with a clear vision and dedication, we aim to become one of the top-performing NCC units in the country,” he stated.
He highlighted the core objectives of the NCC—developing trained, motivated, and disciplined youth ready to take on leadership roles in various walks of life—and reaffirmed that the camps and training programs are structured to meet these goals.
Lt. Ali Haider, ANO at GHSS Barsoo, described the visit by a senior-ranking officer just five months after the battalion’s establishment as a major morale booster. “It is a testament to the potential and dedication our unit holds. We are determined to make the 2nd Ladakh Bn a model of excellence,” he said.
The battalion has already begun addressing several longstanding challenges previously faced by cadets and ANOs. “Training, enrolment, and other allied activities are progressing smoothly. We’ve also scheduled an Annual Training Camp (ATC) and various adventure activities to further build skills and camaraderie,” added Col. Seth.
Lt. Mohmad Hussain, ANO and Vice Principal of Govt. ML Boys' HSS Kargil, emphasized that the 2nd Ladakh Battalion is poised to make a lasting impact on youth development and human resource management in the region.
The event was attended by several ANOs, including Lt. Ali Haider (GHSS Barsoo), F/O Asgar Ali (GHS Baroo), T/O Mohd Hussain (JAME Kurbathang), and CTOs from various government and private institutions. The program was coordinated and conducted by Third Officer Marzia Banoo, ANO of Govt. Girls' HSS Kargil.
