Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), unfurled the national flag and extended heartfelt wishes to the people of Ladakh during the Republic Day celebration held at Polo Ground, Leh.

The event was attended by CEC, LAHDC-Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson; Advisor to the LG, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Principal Secretary, Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS; 14 Corps Commander Lt Gen Hitesh Balla; DGP Ladakh, Dr. SD Singh Jamwal, IPS; Executive Councillors of LAHDC-Leh; Secretaries of the UT Administration; Deputy Commissioner Leh; SSP Leh; Councillors of LAHDC-Leh; district officers, community and religious representatives, and a large gathering of the general public.

In his address, the LG expressed immense happiness over the posthumous recognition of Late Lama Lobzang, who was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri Award for his invaluable contributions. He stated that this honor reflects the dedication of Ladakh’s people to social welfare and development.

The LG highlighted the strides Ladakh has made in multiple sectors, focusing on the vision of a prosperous and sustainable region. He elaborated on initiatives such as the creation of five new districts, progress toward carbon neutrality, and advancements in education, health, tourism, and infrastructure.

Key achievements mentioned in his speech included the reduction of diesel generator use across Ladakh, ongoing work on the 220 kV transmission system, and the establishment of the Green Corridor project. The LG also emphasized efforts to enhance educational opportunities, skill development programs, and the promotion of winter sports, which are integral to Ladakh’s growth.

He acknowledged progress in employment generation, health management, and rural infrastructure, underscoring the impact of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the establishment of a medical college, and initiatives such as the Khelo India Winter Games, which promote Ladakh as a prominent destination for tourism and sports.

The LG congratulated the winners of the newly instituted UT Awards, recognizing five awardees each from Leh and Kargil districts for their exceptional contributions to the region’s growth and development. These awards aim to honor and inspire individuals making a significant impact in their communities.
Calling for unity and cooperation, the LG urged citizens to work together towards a "corruption-free and delay-free" administration. He encouraged the youth to pledge their efforts to make Ladakh the most developed Union Territory in the country.

In conclusion, the LG reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of Ladakh's people, pledging to collaborate with both Leh and Kargil districts to ensure the region's continued progress and prosperity.
