Leh town to bring under Project 'Tsangda'
District Administration Leh decided to bring Municipal area of Leh town under the ambit of Project 'Tsangda'.
A meeting was convened in this regard with the business unit holders of Leh market headed by President Merchant Association Leh P. Wangyal on June 27 at DC Conference Hall.
Tsering Paldan, ACD Paldan and Zakir Hussain, District Panchayat Officer Leh sensitized them about the project.
Tsering Paldan said that Project 'Tsangda' is the first ever waste segregation centre in Choglamsar and later extended in Diskit Nubra, Khaltsi, Nimoo, Pangong and Hunder. The segregated garbage from the local residents and shops are collected and recycled and renewed into income.
He said that by replicating the project in Leh town, it will solve the problem of garbage dumping ground like (Bombgarh) and prevent the mounting of such unmanageable dumping grounds in future.
The main market including New shara market will be covered under the project and MC Leh will be the implementing agency.
A documentary film and play on Project like Tsangda made by Rural Development Department, Leh was also showcased to the participants.
To sensitize and educate various stakeholders of MC Leh area about the Project 'Tsangda', the Rural Development Department, Leh under the direction of Avny Lavasa, DC Leh is holding series of meetings with members of Municipal Committee Leh, officers and officials of MC Leh and shopkeepers, hoteliers of Leh market since last week.
Project 'Tsangda' was initiated with the aim of sustainable waste management in rural pockets of Leh district.
