LEH :
A one day workshop on child health cooperative & Children Development Khazana was conducted at LNP training hall, Housing Colony on 3rd March. The program has been carried out in three blocks of Leh district, namely, Nyoma, Kharu and Chuchot.
Students from Chuchot Government School participated in the workshop.
The goal of this education is not only to increase child's health knowledge but to create positive attitudes toward his /her own well-being and to promote healthy behavior.
The children were educated about the personalized health information such as on puberty, reproduction, sexually transmitted and other relevant issues.
Students expressed that such education helps them to know more about the personal health which are generally not discussed among the families and in schools.
It is very vital to give heath education, especially to the teenager because they are vulnerable to other many risks of sexual health, mental health, alcohol and drug use etc. educating more about the health will spare from many diseases which will ensure them to grow up as healthy adults, which in turn will contribute to the development of dynamic and productive societies.
Children Development Khazana is conceptualized and initiated by Butterflies in the year 2001, as a vehicle to empower street, working and rural & urban poor children. CDK’s primary objective is to impart life skills education, teach them to be responsible, prioritise needs, budget and save. Children between the age group of 9-18 years are the members, volunteer managers and promoters of CDK.
Butterflies is a registered voluntary organisation working with the most vulnerable groups of children, especially street and working children since 1989.
