Leh-Manali bypass: CEC Tashi Gyalson directs early survey completion

Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, chaired a meeting on March 1 to finalize the alignment of the Leh-Manali bypass from Spituk to Upshi.

The meeting was attended by Executive Councillor (Agriculture) Stanzin Chosphel; Councillor, Phyang, Tundup Nurbo; Councillor, Igoo, Sonam Thardos; Councillor, Chuchot, Mirza Hussain; ACR, Leh, Shabir Hussain; Col. K.S. Lavana, Commander of 753 BRTF; Tehsildar Leh, Dorjey Gailson; SDM Incharge Kharu, Stanzin Namgail; Officiating Chief Engineer, Project Himank, Amit Sakhre; Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), 111 RCC, Yogendra Meena; and representatives from Almondz Leh.

A detailed presentation was given, highlighting the significance of the project in improving connectivity, easing traffic congestion, and strengthening regional infrastructure. The proposed bypass aims to streamline vehicular movement, enhance road safety, and ensure better accessibility for both civilians and the armed forces.

Following extensive discussions, CEC Tashi Gyalson directed officials to conduct the survey at the earliest and complete it within 15 days in consultation with local stakeholders and councillors to ensure a smooth and efficient process. Army officials assured full cooperation and confirmed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) would be prepared to facilitate the project's execution.

Recognizing the strategic importance of the bypass, all stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to its timely completion, emphasizing its crucial role in enhancing regional development and connectivity.
