Leh gears for Pulse Polio Immunization Program, 2018

A meeting of the District Level Task Force for intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Program-2018 was held under the chairmanship Avny Lavasa, DC, on January 25 at DC office, Leh.
Dr. Motup Dorje, CMO apprised about the comprehensive strategy and the joint action plan to be adopted during the first and second round of Pulse Polio Immunization to be held on January 28 and March 11.
He said that the task force committee is responsible to ensure program planning, monitoring, and implementation of National Immunization Day in coordination with different departments.
Elaborating about the arrangements to combat against the disease and to vaccinate the target population of 11,464 (Children under 5 years of age) including 878 non-local children a total of 297 Vaccination Booth establishments have been set up and 1,188 workers will be deployed. In addition, 14 mobile teams, 11 transit point, and 5 Mela/Bazaar will be made functional on the vaccine day. Moreover, 40 supervisors and 67 vehicles will be engaged on the day.
Dr. Tashi Namgail, District Immunization Officer gave a detailed power point presentation about the Pulse Polio Immunization Program-2018.
Avny Lavasa, DC stressed on all the stakeholders for effective implementation of IPPI program and assured all kind of support including the deployment of two vehicles need in Khaltsi Sub Division.
She directed Education and ICDS departments to ensure close coordination during the Pulse Polio Immunization Program and CMO and DPO, ICDS Project Leh for rationalization of Anganwadi Workers for survey purpose.
Meanwhile, the meeting was updated about the “Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign” starting from January 30 to Feb 13.
Dr. Mohd Iqbal, District Health Officer briefing about the leprosy scenario in Leh district informed that at present there are only 5 Leprosy cases out of which 2 are locals.
