Leh delegations calls on Advisor Sharma with issues
Various delegations and public representatives put forth several issues and demands during a meeting with Advisor to the Governor J&K, KK Sharma on July 15.
The delegation includes Ladakh Gonpa Association, District Congress Committee, Leh, BJP Unit Leh, Nubra delegation, Municipal Committee Leh, State Govt. employees Association, Leh etc.
Ven. Shedup Chamba, President, All Ladakh Gonpa Association demanded allotment of land in Jammu for construction of a Ladakh cultural convention centre keeping the growing Ladakhi population in mind.
The Congress delegation headed by Tsering Namgyal, President, DCC, Leh demanded the recently created directorates under the ambit of Hill Council so that the core purpose of creating Hill Council doesn’t get undermined and to ensure smooth governance.
They also took the issue of imbalanced creation of departments by allotting important directorates in favour of Kargil district and urged the Govt. for reconsideration. Other issues including release of funds for proper functioning of Municipal Committee, Leh for development of Leh town, release of funds for completion of Himalayan Culture & Convention Centre and Golf Course, grant of 10% SDA in favour of State Govt. employees, creation of a separate post of CEO of the rank of Secretary for Hill Council, Leh and opening an Anti Corruption Court in Leh was also put forward.
The Nubra delegation led by Ex-MLA Deldan Namgyal demanded for early completion of Shatse-Daksna and Udmaroo bridges by releasing funds, allotment of funds for Tsati and Rongdo bridges, extension of power supply to Nubra valley through Northern grid, early completion of long pending irrigation canals in Nubra and also took up the demand of granting separate district for Nubra.
Dr. Ishey Namgyal, President, Municipal Committee demanded for creation of an civil engineering Wing for MC, early posting of the Director Urban Local Bodies for Ladakh division, construction of a modern abattoir and a town hall for Leh, training of Leh mainstream, relaxation in rule for the engagement of casual/daily wage labourers for Leh Municipality and grant of early approval for Action Plan of MC Leh which stands submitted to the Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir.
The BJP delegation led by President, Dorjey Angchuk through memorandum demanded the creation of the post of Director Agriculture, Joint Director Agriculture and Deputy Director Planning for Leh district under Ladakh Division, introduction of all important departments and subjects in newly created Ladakh University, creation of High Court Circuit Bench , release of fund for Ladakh University, opening of Medical College with affiliation under Ladakh University, filling up of the vacant post of Doctors for Leh district including creation of Dental Surgeon, restoration of Helicopter services in Ladakh region etc.
The delegation of State employees Association through President Tashi Chosphel demanded to sanction of 10% SDA in favour of Govt. employees and restoration of promotion reservation.
He assured to look into the matters at Government level.
