LAHDC, Leh reviews Igoo-Phey Project under Swadesh Darshan 2.0
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, along with Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh, Tsering Angchuk, and Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, chaired a review meeting on August 21 at the council secretariat’s conference hall to discuss various initiatives under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme.
The primary focus of the meeting was the Igoo-Phey Beautification Project, aimed at enhancing the tourism potential of the region. A detailed virtual presentation on the Igoo-Phey Canal Front Development was delivered by the SD 2.0 PDMC Team from UT Ladakh and Voyants Solutions Pvt. Ltd. This project, located near Stok Village, includes plans for the development of a cycling track, a cafeteria, parking facilities, and other essential public amenities.
Snehasish Bhattacharjee, Project Coordinator, Technical, Leh, provided an overview of the Igoo-Phey Canal Front Development plan and requested the H’CEC’s approval for the transfer of the proposed land for the project near Stok Village.
In response, CEC Gyalson directed Snehasish, the Executive Engineer of Igoo-Phey, and other concerned officers to conduct a thorough joint survey of the proposed site. He emphasized the importance of officially earmarking the area as part of the Igoo-Phey Beautification Project and establishing a clear boundary to prevent encroachment. Additionally, he stressed that the beautification efforts should not disrupt the functionality of the existing irrigation canal.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Leh, Tsewang Gyalson; Executive Engineer, Igoo-Phey; Executive Engineer, LDA, Leh; Assistant Director, Tourism, Leh; and other relevant officers and officials.
