Ladakh rolls out MACP and teacher award policy for School Education department
The Department of School Education (DSE), UT Ladakh, has implemented the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme for lecturers in the School Education Department, aligning with national standards. This announcement was made on September 18.
A Departmental Screening Committee has been constituted, with the Director of School Education, UT Ladakh, serving as Chairperson, and the Chief Education Officers of Leh and Kargil as committee members. The committee will review and recommend eligible lecturers for financial upgradation under the MACP guidelines of 2019. The scheme became operative in UT Ladakh from September 5, 2024, the date of the order's issuance.
The MACP provision, introduced by the Central Government, aims to provide financial upgradations to employees experiencing stagnation due to limited promotional opportunities. It ensures upgradation at 10, 20, and 30 years of regular service from the date of joining.
In addition, the department announced the introduction of the Ladakh Teacher Award Policy in the School Education Department. All teaching staff, including lecturers, masters, and teachers in UT Ladakh, are eligible for the yearly "Best Teacher Award" under this policy.
The evaluation criteria will include academic performance, extra classes conducted, teaching methods, innovative practices, subject knowledge, communication skills, regularity, community engagement, and student and DDO feedback.
The policy aims to identify and honor outstanding teachers who promote quality education, lifelong learning, and a culture of excellence in UT Ladakh. Award recipients will receive a cash incentive and an educational exposure tour within India.
