Ladakh Pollution Control Committee celebrates Earth Day
Ladakh Pollution Control Committee celebrated Earth Day themed, ‘Invest in Our Planet’ in collaboration with Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh on April 21.
Painting and essay writing competition was held in which students presented various means through which an individual can create an inclusive and impactful movement that is impossible to ignore.
Chief Guest of the occasion Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, UT Ladakh, Jigmet Takpa also the Member Secretary of the Ladakh Pollution Control Committee, emphasized caring for mother nature to build a better future. While interacting with students, he urged them to participate in the movement for protecting the environment as they are the future.
Regional Director, LPCC, Aditya Madanpotra delivered the welcome speech and focused on the transformation needed for a healthy earth. Adding that transformation requires actions at all levels, he shared that all stakeholders, including governments, private sectors, and individuals should be held accountable for their role in our environmental crisis.
LPCC is responsible for monitoring and regulating environmental pollution in the Ladakh region. The Committee ensures compliance with environmental laws and regulations to protect the health and well-being of the people and the environment.
