Ladakh mega health camp by Tibetan Cancer Society and Rotary Eye Hospital concludes
The Tibetan Cancer Society, led by Founder and Director Tsultrim Dorjee, in collaboration with the Rotary Eye Hospital Maranda, successfully conducted the Ladakh Mega Health Camp across various regions, providing essential medical services to local communities.
The health camp aimed to deliver comprehensive healthcare services to the people of Ladakh. It featured the participation of 12 young nurses from different parts of the state and abroad, alongside Director Dr. Sudhir Salhotra, General Manager Raghav, and Optometric Specialist Mukesh from Rotary Eye Hospital Maranda in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh.
Starting on July 9, the health camps were held in Khaltse, Saspol, and Nimmoo of the Sham region. Services included blood pressure and random blood sugar testing, electrocardiograms (ECG), consultations with general physicians, ENT specialists, H-Pylori stool check-ups, and eye examinations. The initiative continued with a two-day health camp in Diskit, Nubra Valley.
The culmination of this initiative was a two-day mega health camp at Housing Colony in Leh on July 20th and 21st. This event featured specialized doctors—a gynecologist, ophthalmology surgeon, internal medicine expert, and gastroenterologist—who provided advanced medical consultations and treatments to the local population.
Overall, the camps saw participation from 1,200-1,500 individuals who received treatment. Attendees also benefited from free general medicines and H-Pylori kits distributed onsite.
CEC Tashi Gyalson expressed his appreciation, extending gratitude to the organizers and volunteers for their dedicated efforts in making the health camp a resounding success. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in improving healthcare access and raising awareness about critical health issues among the local population.
Looking ahead, there are plans to organize another Mega Health Camp next year, building on the success of this year's initiative. The organizers remain committed to continuing their efforts in serving the healthcare needs of the people of Ladakh and further strengthening community health.
