Ladakh Bhawan in Chandigarh: Lt. Governor emphasizes utility and efficiency in design
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) B.D. Mishra (Retd), chaired a meeting on September 20 to discuss the proposed construction of Ladakh Bhawan in Chandigarh.
Advisor Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, informed the LG that the UT Administration had purchased approximately 13.7 kanal of land in Chandigarh for around ₹62 crores. The proposed Ladakh Bhawan will feature approximately 30 rooms and is intended to benefit patients, students, and serve as a transitional space for the working class from Ladakh. He further noted that the Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation (SIDCO) was tasked with overseeing the project, following which a tender was floated and Pureways Infra Private Limited engaged as consultants to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Architect Ashwani provided an overview of the site and floor plans for the proposed Ladakh Bhawan through a PowerPoint presentation.
The LG emphasized the importance of utility in the design, suggesting the inclusion of dormitory facilities instead of individual rooms to maximize space utilization. He instructed the architect to remove unnecessary elements from the design and assured that the UT Administration would communicate any required changes to ensure the project meets administrative needs.
