Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Leh on April 11, to discuss a strategic roadmap for enhancing air connectivity through the operation of at least 22 daily flights from Kushok Bakula Rinpoche (KBR) Airport, Leh.

The meeting focused on exploring the feasibility of utilizing Indian Air Force (IAF) bays at the airport to accommodate the proposed increase in flights, particularly during the peak tourist season, thereby significantly improving accessibility and connectivity in the region.

Dr. Kotwal directed officials to formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at the earliest to ensure streamlined coordination and clearly defined operational processes among all stakeholders. The Airport Director assured the gathering that not less than 22 flights would operate daily during the tourist season, reaffirming the commitment to improved connectivity.

He reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to the overall welfare and economic development of Ladakh.
