Khaltse gets solid waste management centre Four solid waste management centre opened in Leh district under project Tsang-Da

With an aim to make Leh one of the cleanest districts in terms of waste management, one more solid waste management centre was inaugurated by Avny Lavasa, Deputy Commissioner, Leh on August 6 at Khaltse.

Leh district already has three solid waste management centre functional under the project Tsang-Da launched by District administration through Rural Development Department last year. 

After the successful functioning of these three centres each at Choglamsar, Diskit and Nimoo, launching one at Khaltse is one step more towards making the best waste management system in all region of the district.

The households, hoteliers and shopkeepers of Khaltse received dustbins on the occasion.

Tsering Paldan, ACD, Leh informed that initially a monthly fee of ₹ 50 from the households and ₹ 200 from the shopkeepers will be charged to run the solid waste management centre and as per need and requirement these centres will be extended.

Avny Lavasa appealed people of Khaltse to extend their fullest support and participation in making the waste management centre a success in every respect.

She talked about the achievements of such centers at Choglamsar, Diskit and Nimoo which collected about 40,000 kg of garbage in the district so far, which otherwise could be on the open space of the district.

She further added that keeping Khaltse neat and clean is in the best interest of the people of Khaltse as it is along the national highway.

Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SDM Khaltse, Zakir Hussain,  DPO, Leh, Tsering Angcuk, BDO, Khaltse, Phuntsog Stanzin, Councillor Skurbuchan,  Lobzang Sherap, Councillor Khaltse, HODs of Khaltse Sub Division, Nambardars, members of  Ama Tsogspa and public were present.
