Khadi, village industries commission imparts pottery training in Likir

A potter training was organised with an initiative of Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman, Khadi & Village Industries Commission, and Govt. of India to help the people in earning their livelihood from December 14.
The training programme was started in Leh as per the initiative of Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman KVIC who during his last visit to Leh assured Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC for special focus from KVIC to the people of the far-flung district of the Jammu and Kashmir State.
After the completion of training, 120 electric potter wheels, 12 Blungers and Pug Mill will be distributed to the trainees, up-draught kiln along with a worksheet for the firing of clay artefacts will be also constructed. The trainees will also be sensitized about PMEGP scheme of KVIC which will help them earn their livelihood at their homes.
During the training programme, Master Trainer from Srinagar was arranged and staff from a training institute, KVIC PMTC Pampore, Srinagar, J&K was also deputed to facilitate the trainees in a most effective and comfortable manner.
D.S. Bhati, State Director KVIC informed that after completion of this training one more training on 8 spindle charkhas and loom will be organised soon for spinners and weavers of Leh.
