Kargil observes World Tuberculosis Day
World Tuberculosis Day was observed at the Chief Medical Officer’s office in Kargil on March 24, where distinguished guests and healthcare professionals shed light on the importance of combating TB and its impact on communities.
The chief guest was Deputy Commissioner of Kargil, Shrikant Suse, with the Chief Medical Officer of Kargil as the special guest.
DC Kargil emphasised the importance of enhancing notification rates, tracing efforts, and sputum examination rates. He advised providing a free helpline number at the district level and directed the development of an action plan.
DC Kargil assured administrative support to bolster initiatives aimed at eliminating TB from the district, reaffirming the commitment of local authorities to this cause.
The Chief Medical Officer of Kargil provided valuable insights into the evolution of TB management from historical perspectives to contemporary approaches, highlighting the need for continuous innovation and commitment in tackling the disease.
The District TB Officer delivered a presentation on TB and its implications, stressing the urgency of addressing this public health challenge.
Subsequently, the District Programme Coordinator presented the performance report, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement in the fight against TB.
