IHAI National Ice Hockey Championship, 2019 concludes J&K women team and All India Police Sports Control Board (ITBP) men team clinches champion trophy
J&K women team and All India Police Sports Control Board (ITBP) men team won the IHAI National Ice hockey championship, 2019 on January 27 at new Ice hockey rink near NDS stadium.
The final women match was played between J&K and Delhi. J&K team scored 3 -1 goal. And in men’s match, All India Police Sports Control Board (ITBP) scored 3 goals against 2 goals by Army Sports Control Board (Ladakh Scouts).
The championship was organised by Ice Hockey Association of India and Avny Lavasa, DC, Leh was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Avny Lavasa congratulated all the teams, organisers and supporters for making the championship successful and also promoting the sports despite of many challenges.Talking about the importance of sports she assured the administration support in making the sport events successful.
Harjinder Singh, General Secretary, Ice Hockey Association of India said, “Though we are lacking in many other facilities but the rink is of international standard. It’s good to see maximum participation every year for the championship and with the growing competition things will definitely improve in the future.”
It is the 8th IHAI Men National Championship in which 10 teams representing states of J&K, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Delhi, Maharashtra, Telangana, Chandigarh and the teams of Army Sports Control Board(Ladakh Scouts) and All India Police Sports Control Board (ITBP) participated.
For women, it is the 6th IHAI National Championship in which 4 states including J&K, Delhi, Maharashtra and Chandigarh took part.
JP Yadav, DIG, ITBP expressed his joy over winning the championship. He said, “The boys have practiced hard to win the championship. They were also trained in Delhi for a month. Also, this year we have won the CEC trophy also.”
In the end, trophies and medals were distributed to the players.
