Health Department, Leh, organises Health Mela in Leh
Health Department Leh organised Health Mela themed, ‘Raising Awareness and Education about Common Cancer’ under Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre Urban PHC at Housing Colony Community Hall on February 14.
Mission Director, National Health Mission, UT Ladakh, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhary was the chief guest.
Ayushman Bharat Health Mela will be organised on the 14th of every month at Health and Wellness Centres- Primary Health Centres (PHCS) and Sub-Centres (SCs) where various services, including diagnosis, screening, medicines, generation of ABHA (Health IDs), Golden Card and healthcare services would be offered to the public.
Speaking about the new concept of Health Melas, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhary urged all the public to avail of the various health services provided during the Health Melas as it aims to raise basic health awareness. He also shared about ‘Dial 108’ Ambulance services initiated in Ladakh to tackle any emergency.
Guest speakers such as Consultant Gynecologist, SNM Hospital Leh, Dr. Chetan Deshpande; Consultant Surgeon, SNM Hospital Leh, Dr. Tashi Motup; Dental Surgeon, PHC Thiksey, Dr. Tashi Jorgais; Physician, SNM Hospital, Dr. Tashi Thinles shared their thoughts on the theme of cancer focusing on different types, including Cervical Cancer, Breast Cancer, Oral Cancer and also about the rise of other Non-Communicable Diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes, Heart diseases, etc.
Various stalls providing different health services such as OPD, NCD screening, ABHA Health ID, Ayushman Bharat Card (Golden Card), etc were installed.
Similarly, a Zumba session was also organised on the occasion of the Health Mela.
