Health department initiates comprehensive health programs in Ladakh
The Department of Health's ongoing health initiative includes the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), targeting 32 diseases, and the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK), providing adolescent health counseling. On July 16, this comprehensive program was conducted at Mahabodhi Residential School.
The initiative integrates the National Mental Health Program and the National Tobacco Control Programme to provide a holistic approach to health.
Dr. Stanzin Jamyang, District Consultant for the National Tobacco Control Programme, addressed issues related to tobacco use, cancer risks, and harmful chemicals, emphasizing the dangers associated with tobacco.
RKSK AFHC Counsellor, Stanzin Edzes, highlighted the importance of mental and physical health, discussing common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Counsellor Diskit Angmo provided comprehensive group counseling on menstrual hygiene, sexual abuse, and body image.
Individual counseling sessions were conducted by Dr. Stanzin Jamyang, RBSK Clinical Psychologist Mariyah Samreen, Psychologist Phunchok Diskit, and RKSK AFHC Counsellors Diskit Angmo and Stanzin Edzes.
This initiative underscores the Department of Health's commitment to community well-being through comprehensive health services and awareness programs.
