Funds should be spent on job-oriented skill development programmes, counselling: DC ₹ 6.00 Cr earmarked in next Sadbhavana schemes

A meeting of the functionaries of Army Sadbhavana, NHPC and different Bankers was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Leh, Prasanna Ramaswamy G keeping in mind the approaching financial year of 2016-17.
He urged them to formulate the schemes under Sadbhavana and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) matching to the genuine needs of the people taking the LAHDC and Civil administration into consultation and confidence.
In spite of investing the Sadbhavana funds on infeasible demands and minor works, Deputy Commissioner felt the need to concentrate the funds for major productive works so that targeted people could avail longer lasting benefits out of the schemes.
He said that the Sadbhavana and CSR should become supplementary schemes for the developmental programmes of civil administration that would not only help to fulfil the legitimate public demands at grass root level but would also avoid the duplicates.
The meeting further urged for carrying out the Sadbhavana programmes mainly the construction works under the supervision of technical hands so that people could get the maximum benefit of the schemes which are actually meant for.
Pointing towards few prioritized sectors where the Sadhbhavana and CSR funds could fulfil the larger interest, DC suggested investing the funds for infrastructure development of existing schools, playgrounds, libraries, public seating at Polo ground, Ice hockey ring, and staff quarters in rural areas, heating Bukhari, hospitals, equipment, Anganwadi centres and creation of artificial glaciers which are in high demand.
He also suggested spending the Sadbhavana fund for job oriented skill development programmes and counselling part.
Brigadier, Naveed Kumar of 14 Corp said that the main aim of Sadbhavana is to strengthen the Civil-Army relationship and good will gesture by extending some sort of helping hands in small kinds of public demands.
He said that ₹ 6.00 Cr is earmarked in next Sadbhavana schemes focussing on infrastructure development, education, human resource development and sports. He assured to utilize the allotted fund on such important works, for which, the Army and Civil Administration need to sit together and fix the priority of the works, he suggested.
Additional DC, Leh, Project Director, LREDA, District Superintending Engineer, Chief Engineer, NHPC, Bank officers and other district officers also present in the meeting.
