Foundation stone laid for statue of His Holiness Lama Staksang Raspa at Leh market
His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche, alongside Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, laid the foundation stone for a statue of His Holiness Lama Staksang Raspa at Leh Market on November 13.
The ceremony was attended by Executive Councillor Stanzin Chosphel, Deputy Commissioner Leh Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Leh Shruti Arora, President of All Ladakh Gonpa Association, Vice President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), President of Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, President of the Christian Community, President of the Women’s Wing LBA, President of the Youth Wing LBA, councillors, venerable monks, and a large gathering of local residents.
His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche spoke on the profound contributions of His Holiness Lama Staksang Raspa to Ladakh, expressing gratitude to the Chairman/CEC and local administration for designating a prominent site in Leh Market for the statue’s installation.
He further praised Ladakh’s ongoing progress across various sectors, acknowledging the people’s role in the region’s development. He emphasized the importance of communal harmony and commended the unity among Ladakh’s religious organizations.
The CEC congratulated the people of Ladakh on the upcoming statue, noting the historical impact of Lama Staksang Raspa's contributions. He announced that the statue is anticipated to be completed next year and expressed his appreciation to His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche and the All Ladakh Gonpa Association for their dedication to the project.
Speeches were also delivered by the President of the All Ladakh Gonpa Association and the Vice President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, highlighting the cultural significance of the initiative.
