Electoral roll observer Padma Angmo conducts three-day review visit in Kargil
Padma Angmo, Observer for the 1-Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency, visited Kargil district for a three-day review of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the Electoral Roll, with January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date.
The visit aimed to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the SSR program, an essential step to ensure an accurate and updated voter list.
During her visit, Padma Angmo inspected several polling stations, including PS Baroo, PS Langkhore, and PS Goma Kargil. Accompanied by the election team, she conducted thorough inspections at each site to assess operations and gauge voter awareness and engagement.
She interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who are key to managing electoral roll data at the grassroots level. Through these discussions, she reviewed their progress, provided guidance, and addressed challenges they face in updating voter details. The BLOs shared insights into local electoral participation and specific hurdles in voter registration and outreach.
A key aspect of her visit was engaging with students, identified as potential future voters. This interaction promoted electoral literacy among youth, encouraging them to actively participate in the democratic process. She emphasized voting as a civic duty and briefed students on the enrollment procedures and importance of registering as electors.
