EC, Tourism, Hill Council Kargil reviews status of ongoing works in Tourism sector
EC Tourism, Hill Council, Kargil, Er Phunsok Tashi took stock of the status of ongoing works in the Tourism sector under the District Capex Budget, State Sector and SDP with the concerned officers on June 22 at Council Secretariat, Kurbathang.
EC Tourism was informed that for KDA, under UT Capex development works, Rs 473.41 lakh have been approved while Rs 461 lakh have also been approved for different tourism-related work under the District Capex Budget.
While highlighting the importance of conservation of heritage sites, EC Tashi said that the projects must be taken on priority and directed concerned officers to frame DPRs of the conservation projects of Karchay Khar, Chiktan Khar, Passar Khar and Hunderman Heritage village.
The concerned officers were asked to incorporate Ladakhi architectural design in the tourism-related structures especially focusing on passive solar technology.
Highlighting the importance of Yarkashing Twin Springs as an emerging tourist attraction, EC Tashi directed the concerned engineers to complete the tendering process for the development of the tourist spot. He also stressed accelerating the pace of work on the development of the Maitreya Buddha Statue at Karchay Khar.
EC Tourism also directed the officers concerned to identify suitable locations for putting up signages and stressed that creative designs must be used for new signages at different sites in the district for which content shall be provided by the Tourism Department.
The concerned officers were asked to identify land for the construction of snow lift at Linkipal and said that the site can be used as a summer viewpoint of Kargil town as well.
EC Tashi while expressing satisfaction over the pace of works underway under the Tourism Department and Kargil Development Authority directed the concerned officers to ensure their completion well before the end of the working season.
