EC Gyal Wangyal aims at improving rural health facilities Takes stock of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sakti, Chuchot, Basgo, Saspol and Temisgam

With an aim to improve the health facility in Leh district mainly in rural areas, Gyal P Wangyal, EC Health visited various medical health centres on May 23.
The centres included Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sakti, Chuchot, Basgo, Saspol, and Temisgam. First-hand information ranging from infrastructure, staff strength and availability of medicines and equipment were taken.
While interacting with the Doctors and paramedical staff, Gyal Wangyal said, “Hill Council is very serious about strengthening all the medical centres functioning in rural areas with good infrastructure, sufficient medical staff and medicines to provide quality health service to the people living in far-off areas".
He urged upon the Doctors and paramedic staff to stay updated with latest medical knowledge and practices and ensure punctuality in their duties.
“Council would emphasize on holding more and more refresher training courses at different levels so that the capability of medical staff would further improve”, he added.
He informed about the implementation of transparent transfer policy devised by Late Dr. Sonam Dawa to ensure unbiased posting for all.
He was briefed about the construction of staff quarter, ground leveling and early completion of the access ramp at PHC Sakti. AEE Shamim was directed to complete the ground leveling and the ramps of the hospital at the earliest.
He lauded the staff of PHC Sakti headed by Medical Officer, Dr. Shahid Wasim for their commendable work in quick rescue and evacuation of injured persons during the recent Changla accident. He assured to provide an ambulance for PHC Sakti.
Medical Officer Dr. Amrin Tabassum at PHC Chushot briefed about the functioning of the hospital and demanded toilet and water facility inside the hospital, staff quarter, internet facility and Chowkidar shade.
The need of drinking water facility, a 3-phase power line for the heating system and an additional room for the staff at night duty was demanded by PHC Bazgo.
During his inspection of PHC Saspol, the need of 3-phase power line for heating, treatment for the roof of the new hospital building and renovation of the old building was also brought into the notice.
Putting forth the issues and demands of PHC Temisgam, Tsering Morup, Councillor asked posting of doctors and Medical Officer, filling the vacancies Staff Nurse who were recently transferred, repair of staff Quarter, functional of bathrooms and treatment for the roof of the hospital and three-phase power line.
