DLSA organises awareness programme on child-friendly legal services and protection scheme
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), accompanied by a team of DLSA staff members, visited the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Minjee, on May 25.
The purpose of the visit was to observe and promote child-friendly legal services and the protection scheme for children.
The initiative aims to provide a nurturing environment where children can access legal aid and protection services in a supportive and understanding manner.
During the visit, the DLSA team interacted with students and staff members and discussed various aspects of the scheme and how it can effectively safeguard children's rights within the legal framework.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate emphasised the importance of creating awareness among children about their legal rights and avenues for seeking help if needed.
In addition to providing legal aid, the scheme focuses on educating children about their rights, responsibilities, and the legal system to empower them to speak up against any form of injustice or exploitation they may encounter.
The Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Adv. Nissar Hussain appreciated the efforts of KGBV Minjee Kargil in implementing the child-friendly legal services and protection scheme and pledged continued support from the District Legal Services Authority in nurturing this noble cause.
