One-way traffic system trial for a period of 15 days on Old road and Fort road from October 14 initiated by District Road Safety Committee, Leh was concluded on October 29.

Avny Lavasa, DC said that the purpose of having this trial was to look for possibilities to address the growing issue of traffic congestion on roads in Leh town, especially during tourist season.

She informed that keeping in view the success of 15 days trial of the one-way traffic system, the same will be implemented from next year during the entire tourist season starting from March 2018 on 4 roads including Old Road, Fort Road, Upper Tukcha, and Chanspa.

She further expressed positive hopes that this step will help address the issue of traffic clogging to some extent and prove effective in parking and traffic management.         

Appreciating the public for their cooperation during the trial period, Avny Lavasa appealed for the cooperation in coming times and stressed on well regulated and managed traffic system in Leh.
