District Health Society Kargil organises awareness programme on mental health
District Health Society Kargil organised a mental health awareness camp at Munshi Habibullah Mission Higher Secondary School on May 29. The aim was to educate students and teachers about the importance of mental well-being and provide essential information on identifying and managing mental health issues.
The awareness programme featured a series of informative sessions led by mental health professionals, including Dr Fatima Nissa, Nodal Officer, Mental Health and Dr Murtaza Ali, psychiatrist.
The experts addressed various topics such as the importance of mental health, common mental health disorders, coping strategies and the available resources for seeking help.
In her opening remarks, Dr Fatima Nissa emphasised the role of mental health in overall well-being. "Mental health is as important as physical health. Through education and open dialogue, we can break the stigma and encourage individuals to seek the support they need," she said.
Interactive sessions were conducted to engage the students and teachers, focusing on stress management, emotional resilience, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The event also included a Q&A session, allowing students and teachers to voice their concerns and receive personalised advice from the attending experts.
