District Election Officer reviews provision of facilities at polling stations
A review meeting of Assured Minimum Facility (AMF) at all polling station was convened by Avny Lavasa, DC/ District Election Officer, Leh on April 8.
Zonal Magistrates and Sectoral Magistrates who are assigned in different zones of Leh district for ensuring free, fair and smooth parliamentary elections were present.
Avny Lavasa expressed satisfaction over the achievements so far registered, however, she urged upon the executing agencies and the magistrates to accelerate completion of remaining important works mainly the creation of ramps and toilets at some polling stations.
She also assessed the present status of a basic facility such as connectivity, availability of electricity, drinking water, furniture at the polling stations.
The concerned agencies were directed to put in place all basic facilities well in time for the convenience of the voters. To ensure availability of connectivity, she urged upon BSNL to restore the defunct DSPTs in rural pockets so that timely reporting on the progress of the election process is ensured.
She sought proposals for setting up of intermediate Strong Rooms for EVMs and VV PATs at Sub Divisional levels from the SDMs.
Moses Kunzang, Additional, District Development Commissioner, Leh stressed upon the need to speed up the works of Assured Minimum Facility keeping in mind the fast approaching general elections.
A refresher training on the procedure and operating system of EVM and VV PAT was imparted to the Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates.
