The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Kargil, in collaboration with the Labour Department, Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and Childline Kargil, conducted a joint inspection drive this month at various construction sites in the Sankoo and Taisuru areas.

The campaign aimed to identify and prevent instances of child labour while ensuring the rights and welfare of children are protected in accordance with the law.

During the inspections, officials interacted with shopkeepers, contractors, and community members to raise awareness about the legal and ethical implications of employing children. They also emphasized the importance of education and a safe, nurturing environment for every child.

The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating child labour and urged all stakeholders—including the public—to actively support the vision of a child-labour-free Kargil.
