Discussion on plans of Krishi Vigyan Kendra units, research stations held
Chairman/CEC, Tashi Gyalson convened a meeting with the officials of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) New Delhi, as well as representatives from SKUAST-K and SKUAST Leh on June 13.
The meeting aimed to address the operations and functionalities of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) units and research stations based in Leh, and to discuss plans for Ladakh.
Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel, and Executive Councillor for Horticulture, Ghulam Mehdi were present during the meeting.
CEC Gyalson emphasized the importance of maintaining the existing functionalities and operations of KVKs and research stations in Leh. He suggested that until a major apportionment is undertaken for Ladakh in the future, the current systems should remain in place. This approach would ensure continuity and stability in agricultural research and extension services in the region.
The officials from ICAR and SKUAST-K positively took note of the discussions and suggestions put forth by CEC Gyalson. They expressed their appreciation for his vision and commitment to the agricultural development of Ladakh. Moreover, they assured the Hill Council, Leh of their full cooperation and support in implementing the proposed measures.
