Director of the National Institute of Sowa Rigpa in Leh, Dr. Padma Gurmet, actively participated as a speaker at the 6th Bharatiya Vigyan Sammelan and Expo held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from December 21 to 24, 2023.

The event, jointly organised by Vijnana Bharati and the Government of Gujarat, centered around the theme ‘A New Integral Vision for Development.’ The BVS serves as a gathering for scientists, artisans, technocrats, traditional innovators, students, and the public, occurring once every two years. It has evolved into an exceptional platform uniting contributors to science, redefining scientific seminars and symposiums.

Dr. Padma Gurmet contributed by presenting a paper on the prospects for research and innovation in Sowa Rigpa and traditional medicine on December 22.

Dr. Somnath, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), served as one of the keynote speakers on December 22. He discussed India's inaugural solar mission, Aditya-L1, which is scheduled to reach the Lagrangian point (L1), situated 1.5 million km from Earth, on January 6. Dr. Somnath also addressed other emerging trends in science and technology during his session.
