Debate and essay writing competition held in KV school

A debate and essay writing competition on the topic ‘My contribution towards nation development by casting my vote’ was organized by Election Cell of district administration Leh on October 28 at KV School Leh.
The main aim is to make the ongoing special summary revision of Electoral Rolls in Leh district more participatory.
Highlighting the role of responsible citizens in a democratic system, DC said that government is of the people by the people and for the people and every person of our nation must think that they are the part of the government system. All decision and works of govt. is the part and parcel of the govt. system and when people participate, they should realize that they are the part of the whole system.
Talking about the main purpose of the activity which is to educate students about the enrolment of eligible voters in the voter's list, she said that this is the first and fundamental step to being a part of the voting system and democracy.
She highly appreciated the students who exhibited their speaking skills in the most professional way by covering every aspect of election process and practices in India and around the world.
Jigmet Langzes of Class 11th bagged the first position while as Ragav Varma and Stanzin Yangdol of Class 11th bagged second and third positions in debate competition. Whereas, in the essay competition, Sonam Angmo, Stanzin Angmo and Harshita Singh bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
As a part of this camp, a painting competition was also held at JNV Leh where Udham Das Sharma, Dy. District Election Officer Leh made the students well conversant about the ongoing Special Summary revision in the district and in the end distributed certificates among the position holders.
