DC, Kargil, reviews action plan for drug-free Kargil
DC, Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve reviewed an action plan and other measures to make the Kargil district drug-free under a flagship campaign Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) on June 22.
DC Santosh informed that the programs will be organised on June 26, 2023, on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, and instructed the concerned departments to ensure the successful conduct of the program.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani; Program Officer ICDS, Nargis Bano; ACD, Kargil, Ghulam Muhammad; CPO, Kargil, Abdul Hadi; Deputy Secretary, Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (LAACL), Kargil, Nazir Hussain; CMO, CEO, representatives of Police, Social Welfare, Colleges, and Youth Services and Sports Department and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Deliberations and discussions were held on the rising trend of drug abuse. The challenges like consumption hotspots, crackdowns, and other activities/measures were discussed in detail and strategies to tackle them were highlighted.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed prevention and other aspects of drug de-addiction so that people especially youth remain away from the consumption of narcotic substances.
He directed the CEO, Kargil to organize rallies and awareness programs in schools and at the Zonal level on 26 June. He also instructed for installation of CCTV cameras outside schools to keep a close vigil on such activities.
DC Santosh directed the Deputy Secretary, LAACL, Kargil to prepare theme-based plays on June 26 against drug abuse to aware people of the ill effects of substance abuse.
Information Department Kargil was instructed for the social media campaign against drug abuse. DC Santosh also directed the concerned departments for random searches at the hotspots to discourage drug abuse.
He emphasized better coordination among all the line departments, stakeholders, and law enforcement agencies to keep a check on drug trafficking and related issues and ensure prompt sharing of inputs within all enforcement units so that timely action is taken.
The concerned officers were asked to ensure proper vigil in and around schools and colleges to keep a check on the supply and use of drugs across the district.
