Day-long legal awareness camp held in Thiksey
A legal awareness programme was conducted on February 4 at Rambirpur, Thiksay. It was organized by District Legal Service Authority, Leh in collaboration with District Social Welfare Office, Leh.
Legal awareness was given on various schemes of Central and State Governments and also made the participants aware about free legal services provided by District Legal Services Authority.
Tashi Chosdol, District Social Welfare Officer and Shakella Bano, CDPO, Leh highlighted the benefits provided by the respective departments under different State and Centre Govt schemes.
A large number of womenfolk and all the participants actively interacted with the resource person.
Advocate Tundup Gyatso, Councillor, Thiksey constituency, and Advocate Eshey Lamo, spoke about the rights of woman and children.
The PLVs also took active participation in the event. Advocate Gulzar Hussain conducted programme and underlined the objective of the day-long legal awareness programme.
Spalzes Angmo, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Leh highlighted activities of District Legal Services Authority, Leh and gave comprehensive information about the protection of rights mainly women and children. She also told in detail about the ways and means of availing free legal services.
She further suggested the participants to take maximum advantage of free legal services provided under Legal Services Authority Act.
Meanwhile, National Research Institute for Sowa Rigpa also carried out free amchi medical camp.
