In an effort to build an inclusive society, Cultural Academy, Leh organises a daylong conference on the theme ‘Love and Respect for all’ on November 7 at Lotsava Auditorium Hall, Cultural Academy, Leh.

As a gesture of love and respect, the differently abled person from Pagir and grandparents from Old Age home, Mahabodhi were invited as the special guest on the occasion.

Terming parents as the most important people in our society, Tsewang Paljor, Special Officer, Cultural Academy, Leh said, “In today’s fast-changing world, most of the old aged parents face the problem.  It is our biggest fault if we ignore their problems rather than solving it and this programme is organised to respect them.

Ven. Thupstan Paldan spoke about the problems faced by old aged people and the specially-abled people in the society. “The fast-changing modernization and development that are taking place today are not considered as a good change because along with this, we see our traditional values and culture taking slight changes which are creating a problem in our society.”

He further added that in today people are running behind the hasty worldly development and take very less care of one’s own parent.

Expressing his gratitude, Mohd. Iqbal, President, Pagir said, “We are very happy today to be invited on this day. Though we are differently-abled we are working with the full courage to bring a good change in the society. People consider that differently-abled and old aged people cannot do anything. And they ask them to stay indoors and stop doing work which needs to be changed, rather, encouragement and motivation are needed”.

“There are many differently-abled who are kept behind the four walls. I request everyone to bring them out and let them get exposure to the world. Today we are recycling the waste product with an aim to maintain a clean environment, likewise, there are many other things which we can do for the society, so encouragement is necessary,” he added.

Mipham Otsal said, “Living and dying is a part of life but one should cherish to be born as a human being. Every kind of crime in the society is committed by the people who are physically fit so you are among those lucky people who get an opportunity to stay away from crime, mischievous acts and concentrate on praying and practical implementation of Buddha’s teaching”

Morup Namgyal said, “In every prayer and songs of traditional we praise the sun, moon, great lamas and after which parents come. So, parents are very important and giving them love and respect are immensely important. If we love our parents and specially-abled person, we will be loved by our children and if not we will get back the same treatment.”

Rinchen Namgyal and Abdul Qayum applauded the initiative of Tsewang Paljor, Special Officer, Culture Academy, Leh to organise such day for them and encouraged old aged people and specially-abled person.
