Craftsmen share knowledge of traditional craft skill with students in Kargyam

A one day workshop on ‘Intangible Cultural aspect of the nomadic life of the Kargyam region’ was held on November 17 at Government high school, Satoo, Kargyam, Changthang.
The workshop was organized by National Museum Institute History of Art, Conservation & Museology, New Delhi in collaboration with Govt. High School, Satoo, Kargyam
Lobzang Stanzin, Research Assistant, National Museum talked about the need for such workshop. He said, “With modernization younger generation are neglecting and forgetting rich nomadic cultural and traditional knowledge. And it becomes important to transfer intangible knowledge and skill from old generation to younger generation in order to preserve and promote it.”
Talking about the importance of language, Ven. Sonam Paljor said, “The young generations don’t give much importance to learn our own language but it is very important to learn and preserve the rich tradition and culture with modern education.”
Kunzang Padma, Incharge Headmistress spoke about the importance of knowledge and skill. She advised students to learn and preserve traditional craft and knowledge.
