Counseling cum awareness workshop on PMSSS 2023-24 held at EJM College, Leh
One-day counseling cum awareness workshop on Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) 2023-24 was held at Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh on June 23.
The primary objective of the workshop was to provide comprehensive guidance and support to students and stakeholders in the Ladakh region. By fostering knowledge sharing and promoting awareness, the workshop addressed the needs of students who have already registered for PMSSS 2023-24, as well as those in the 11th and 12th standards who are aspiring to benefit from the scholarship in the future.
Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department, Ladakh, Padma Angmo attended the event as the chief guest.
Commissioner/Secretary Padma Angmo emphasized the importance of the workshop in equipping students with knowledge and resources for informed decision-making. She urged the attending students to fully seize the available opportunities offered by the PMSSS. She emphasized the significance of timely and correct utilization of scholarships, stressing the need to avoid duplication. She added that by availing scholarships in the correct manner, students can maximize their educational benefits and pave the way for a successful career.

Member Secretary of AICTE, Professor Rajiv Kumar delivered an insightful lecture on the importance of PMSSS, shedding light on the immense benefits it offers. This was followed by a detailed session by Director at AICTE, Kunal Jeet Singh who provided comprehensive information on the eligibility criteria and various opportunities available through PMSSS.
During the workshop, Guest Speaker Tsering Tashi, a Scientist from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), informed the attendees about the various benefits of PMSSS. He specifically highlighted the provision of 6 reserved seats at the prestigious Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) exclusively for students from Ladakh and J&K under the PMSSS programme. Tashi urged the students not to miss this golden opportunity and encouraged them to make the most of it for their future endeavors.
Professor Jigmet Lhundup stated that the successful workshop signifies the commitment of the Higher Education Department and AICTE to empower students in Ladakh, enabling them to pursue their educational dreams and build a bright future.
